Supporters of the Human Rights Political Party HRPP are pushing a ‘keep the peace’ message of reconciliation and unity in the villages.
The goodwill intentions were brought out loudly at a gathering of the party faithful on Friday a the Maota I Petesa headquarters, Sogi.
There is little doubt from the supporters personal accounts that every village is politically polarised with those who support FAST (Faatuatua ile Atua Samoa Ua Tasi ) and those supporting HRPP and of how it has strained the peace and unity amongst the villagers.
“ We are upholding the message from the HRPP to keep the peace. This is what we are telling the young people in the villages,” many of the supporters admitted openly.
The HRPP meeting last week also heard from supporters the need for every party candidate to have a game plan for the upcoming by-elections so that they can get the required number of seats in order to win the government back.
Many were critical that the party attitude was too relaxed before the general election while the hungry members of the FAST Party were out in the villages busy scrounging for votes.
The fielding of too many candidates for one constituency was also decried for costing the HRPP the election win.
Support remains strong for the Party to continue with the push to resolve constitutional issues that have slipped away from where they should be for Samoa.
An improved media presence with regular televsion and online presentations and explanations of issues that are of national importance to the party followers was commended.
