Students and staff of Leifiifi College were delighted to receive their new additional classroom building that house six classrooms through a handover ceremony held earlier today (3 July) at their school compound.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Samoa, H.E. Mr. TERASAWA, Genichi represented his government at the ceremony attended by Member of the Council of Deputies, Afioga Tapusatele Le Mamea Ropati Mualia, Prime Minister, Hon. Tuilaepa Fatialofa Lupesoliai Sailele Malielegaoi, Cabinet Ministers, representatives of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture, School Committee, students and staff of Leifiifi College.
The project was funded in amount of up to 108,880 USD (approximately 285,000 SAT) under the GGP.
Japan has been assisting the education sector through construction and upgrading school buildings and dispatching experts for capacity development of teachers particularly in the fields of science and mathematics.
It is hope that the project will greatly help the School Committee and teachers in its effort to promote a learning environment that optimizes the ability of children of Leifiifi College to grow and learn.
The project reflects Japan’s goodwill and continuous friendship with the people of Samoa.
The GGP programme is specifically designed to address basic human needs, which include health, basic education, water supply and sanitary environment.
