SVSG President  Siliniu Ms. Lina Chang looks on as the unconscious, bedridden young boy’s mother tend to his needs

A wail of “It must end now” against violence in Samoa, burst from next to the hospital bed of a teenage boy battling to survive life threatening injuries after a brutal beating by a group of village boys.

The Samoa Victim Samoa Group President, Siliniu Ms. Lina Chang, made the cry, after a personal visit to the badly beaten victim.

SVSG has directed public attention to the life risks of grevious bodily injuries, to boost the message behind the 2025 “16 Days of Activism Against Violence”.

The call is on Government leaders, communities, and families to stand together and fight against violence.

“It must end now” a young teenage boy, who was supposed to graduate from high school this year, is still fighting for his life after falling victim to violence,” a SVSG statement highlighted.

The violence reportedly occurred just before the celebration of White Sunday in October when the young man was attacked by drunken men while he was on his way home in the evening.

‘His devastated mother and family remain by his side each day as he struggles to recover in his hospital bed,” the statment continued.

“SVSG’s visit was not only motivated by its mission to support victims of crime, such as this young man, but also by the fact that his mother is a dedicated SVSG village representative (Sui Auai).

The mother has long served as an advocate for ending violence at the community level. “

President Siliniu Lina Chang expressed her deep sadness upon witnessing the condition of the young boy.

She emphasized the violation of his rights to education, to live in a safe community, and to be part of a society free from violence.
