FORUM crowd at the EFKS Hall – Sogi, in celebration of International Womens Day

The celebration of the International Women’s Day today, Friday 8 March 2023, was well highlighted once again around Apia.

A parade along Beach Road into the centre of the township, directed public attention to the value of the womenfolks, very early in the morning, around 7.30am.

The activities then shifted to a Forum at the EFKS Hall, Sogi, where   to ‘Invest and Empower Women was discussed as the selected theme of the Day.

The emphasis on Technical Vocational Educational Training (TVET)  for women underlined the international focus on the main theme,

The appearance of women officers from the Ministry of Police and the Samoa Fire and Emergency Services Authority stood out at the hall.

Staff from the Samoa Land and Transport Authority, Electric Power Corporation were involved as well.

All were working around information booths set up in the hall to promote their brand of service.

Groups of secondary school students joined the forum crowd to learn and appreciate the role of women in society.

International Women’s Day has become an annual celebration for Samoa and is always well supported inside the more populated urban surroundings.

Rural village communities also give special acknowledgements to the role of women by taking their cue from the hype that spills out of urban Apia.
