Selected young Samoan men and women talents from as far away as the US, Australia, New Zealand will join the home boxers in the boxing ring.
These are the “… best Samoan youth and elite boxers from around the world, including past Olympians” according to a statement from tournament organisers.
“This event will also help us identify the final Team Samoa selection to represent our country at the next year’s Commonwealth Games, Youth Olympic Games and World Boxing Championships,” the statement added.
Independent Boxing Samoa is the organising body behind what is being billed as their first international championship in Samoa .
Samoan amateur boxers at world class levels are spending their weekend in an International two day boxing tournament starting this Friday in Apia.
The official tournament opening was held at the Lava Hotel on Wednesday night .
