MEDIA RELEASE : A packed Boxing House HQ at Tuana’imato for the Inter-School Boxing Competition 2025 that ended this week, was among the main knock out success for the organisers.

This was the triumphant tone that cane out of the May 2nd to 16th competition that dragged in large crowds of school supporters including families and friends.

Competition organisers, Independent Boxing Samoa Inc. (IBSInc.), the National Federation and Boxing Samoa governing body also went so far as to bring in world heavyweight boxing legend, David Tua for a special role as award presenter.

The Samoa National Olympic Committee (SASNOC) Chef De Mission, Tologata Leilua, attended as well.

The Independent Boxing Samoa Inc. (IBSInc.),  has a busy 2025-2026 schedule of regional boxing tournaments lined up for the young school boxers .

Final trials for the elite national boxing team from June 26th to 28th, 2025, with teams from New Zealand, Australia, and local academies competing for selection. 

The elite team will represent Samoa at the World Boxing Championship Cup in Liverpool, England, in September 2025 – a crucial qualifying event for the 2028 Olympic Games. 

Preparations are also underway for the Youth Olympic Games in October 2026 and the Commonwealth Games in July 2026. 

A team of 20 (including management) will represent Samoa in the under-17 and under-19 categories at the regional school competition in Fiji next month. 

This trip will also provide valuable professional development opportunities for Samoan referees and judges.
