Letter To The Editor : This is a famous law in Commerce, that one cannot pledge ignorance as an excuse to claim relief from an inexcusable oversight.
A recent bizarre incident of Two boats (not one) berthing at our wharfs (one in Savaii and another at Aleipata without Port clearance) which no one in Government seemed to know, is once again exposing to us all, the sad status Samoa’s security is in today.
It is a good thing that Prime Minister Fiamē Naomi Mata’afa has acknowledged publicly that the boat from American Samoa should have been locked up.
And then she apologized for the security lapse by the concerned Ministries staff, now that the boat has slipped back to American Samoa and that’s the end of the matter.
Nothing was mentioned about the boat berthed at the wharf at Aleipata.
The Local Mosooi Rumour Wireless, identified 3 Ministers of Cabinet involved.
If this is true, no wonder there is no further action!
A commission of Enquiry would have pinpointed the culprits involved and provide enormous relief to our people, that our borders are secured against possible illegal importation of drugs, the entry into Samoa of criminals etc, etc, etc.
The Government has much more to explain.
