The Opposition Human Rights Protection Party, HRPP, national policy promises for the upcoming general elections will be officially announced at tomorrow,.

Election candidates running under the opposition party will also be named as well in a special gathering at Petesa headquarters in the late afternoon.

HRPP leader, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, made this known earlier today at his weekly Thursday press conference with the local media.

The HRPP leader’s disclosure adds to the noticeable build up of preparation pace to the general elections in 3 months time on 29 August 2025.

Caretaker PM Fiame Naomi Mataafa, set up her Samoa Uniting Party, SUP, as well today to fire up more speed to the build up.

The SUP launching formally confirms the PM’s total breakaway from the splintered unity of the former ruling FAST party.

PM Fiame’s new party will line up alongside the HRPP and FAST as legitimate political parties to contest the general elections.

There are reports however of several new political parties either being formed or still in the planning stages.

There are several expressed concerns at these newer political groupings creating unnecessary divisions in the general public unity.
