The ‘Next Generation Ford Raptor’ pickup truck will carry the fundraising hopes of earning enough money to cover development costs in schools run by the Marist Brothers in Samoa.
The latest model priced at $270,000 is the current craze in the local pickup truck market and is due to arrive in November 2022.
The Marist Brothers Old Pupils Association, MBOPA is having the car raffled off hopeful its strong appeal to car lovers will help sell more raffle tickets and earn the much needed funds for the children’s education.
The raffle is the only fundraising event MBOPA has lined up for 2022 after deciding not to hold one last year.
“Last year, we did not have any fundraising activity so as to not get in the way of St Mary’s College’s 65th anniversary celebrations,” a MBOPA statement announcing the fundraising drive explained.
Ford Motors and Vodafone are lending their support to the worthy cause by helping push for more people to contribute by buying raffle tickets.
The ultimate prize will be drawn next year on the 6th of January 2023.
The organisers, however, are planning to keep the public interest bubbling along with the drawing of fortnight raffles as spin offs to the main one.
There are 11 raffles scheduled with cash prizes to be won leading up to the main draw for the car next year.
Vodafone is playing a major role in pushing for the sale of more raffle tickets with the use of national electronic platforms for easy online purchase.
A Marist Ford Car Convoy to travel around the country is being organised as promotion for the fundraising drive.
The mega raffle was official launched on Friday night at the Centennial Hall inside the St. Joseph’s College compound.
MBOPA undertakes ongoing fundraising drives to help the Marist Brothers with the schools development needs in all its schools.
The Marist Brothers Mulivai for primary level education and St. Joseph’s College, Alafua are the main schools run by the Catholic in Upolu with Ulimasao in Savaii.
