The University of the South Pacific Samoa Campus graduation this Friday, 21 April 2023, will be the last one as Chancellor, for the Head of State, His Highness, Tuimalealiifano Vaaletoa Sualauvi II.

His Highness is the 29th Chancellor of the regional University, appointed to serve a one (1) year set term from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023.

The Samoa Campus graduation of August last year 2022 was when His Highness was installed Chancellor.

This is his second and last time to preside in the titular role that all started, and is about to end, at home in Samoa with the graduation this week.

Tuimalealiifano was in Fiji earlier for the main campus graduation.

The farewell event for the Chancellor will be a special highlight added to “another unique aspect of this graduation” for families to celebrate.

“Because it’s not just one person. It’s always a family in the Pacific, and then a village and then the whole nation in the achievements of the people,” Samoa Campus Director, Dr. Fanaafi Aiono-Letagaloa said.

Dr. Fanaafi noted that “every graduation is special” and for the one planned at the EFKS Youth Hall this Friday, it is the “ first for the Samoa Campus since COVID and the measles epidemic in August 2022.

“It’s great that we can have a graduation without the worry of lockdowns,” Dr Fanaafi added.

USP Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dr.Giulio Paunga, will attend the graduation in place of Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Pal Ahluwalia.
