The Head of State, His Highness Tuimaleali’ifano Va’aleto’a Sualauvi II, has re-located back to the safety of his village home at Falelatai.
His Highness and Masiofo moved out of their official residence at Vailele at the weekend.
Concern for the security and protection of the Head of State brought busloads of anxious men from his Falelatai home village to the Vailele Residence last Wednesday.
Falelatai spokesman Nanai Lupematasila Ivara said they were concerned at the security of their paramount chief with all the abuse against his dignity on social media.
“We didn’t want to sit back idle in the village while the safety of our ‘Tama Aiga’ is under threat,” Nanai told Newsline Samoa.
“We wanted to take him back to his own home residence in the village where we can look after him better, if Government wants any documents signed bring it to Falelatai.”
The villagers decided to return home after assurances from the Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi and the Police.
Nanai said Falelatai will meet this week to consider punitive actions against the families of villagers who disrespected His Highness on social media from outside Samoa.
“We have already put together a list of all the names of those from the village who commented against His Highness on social media.”
Added security risks are high with the new Head of State proclamation last night for Parliament session on Monday to be suspended.
