The Associate Minister of Tourism is leading a high level delegation from Apia to Savai’i today, Thursday 9 Sept. 2020, to promote the tourism industry on the bigger island.
The New Zealand High Commissioner and Japan’s ambassador to Samoa are included in the delegation.
The one day visit started at the Jet Over Hotel in the morning for the official launching of guidelines to several scenic attractions on the island plus other planned promotional activities.
A site visit to the Afu Aau waterfall at Vailoa, Palauli, was also included.
The Samoa Tourism Authority, STA organised the visit as part of an on going push to encourage local tourism.
The threat of the coronavirus pandemic has brought the local tourism industry to a virtual standstill with Samoa’s frontline borders closed to international travel.
The STA has since been pushing the domestic market to keep the industry going.
