How the new national budget proposes to address the high cost of living is being eagerly anticipated by the opposition Party when tabled in Parliament.

The House is being called to session on 2 October 2025 for the new estimates to be tabled for the 2025-2026 financial year.

It will be the very first budget for the FAST Government of Prime Minister Laauli Polataivao Schmidt.

“The handling of our national economy remains our main concern,” Opposition leader, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, noted last Thursday in his weekly meetings with the local media.

“We’ll only know how our national development policies are funded once the budget is tabled,” he added.

The Parliament select finance committee will go over the estimates for two weeks after it is tabled before the House is called into session on 20 October 2025 for the full budget debate.
