Our national politics since the FAST Government of PM Fiame Naomi Mataafa took over has remained bitter and divisive since it all started, going on 3 years ago.
The fall out between the longterm rule of the HRPP former PM Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi and his successor and former deputy, ended an unmatched rule of 40 years by the HRPP.
Former PM Tuilaepa led the HRPP Govt. for more than 20 years and it is now PM Fiame’s turn, making history along the way as Samoa’s first woman leader of Government.
Back in time when both individuals were sporting mostly black hair with touches of gray starting to show, they were happy and in sync.
As seen here, they would be sharing a drink of ceremonial ava and laughing at some lighthearted comments in their conversational exchange.
One wonders if the quick spread of white hair on both led to the break-up. Whatever the underlying reason the political collapse is now an angry account in our national leadership landscape.
Time is a healing factor that wears down any division in harmony and unity. So too is the repeated message we are about to celebrate as we do every year – Christmas.
Merry Christmas Samoa.
