COSTLY ACCIDENT :  Resigned Cabinet Minister Fuimaono Titimaea Tafua

By Staff Writer

The resignation by the Minister of Commerce Industry and Labour, Fuimaono Titimaea Tafua, became official today, Wednesday 2 April 2025.

Fuimaono is facing legal charges following a road accident at the weekend that left several people injured including himself along the Aleipata Le Mafa Pass Road.

“I actually handed in my resignation on Tuesday and it became official today after it went through the normal process up to the Head of State,” Fuimaono told Newsline Samoa Online today.

His quick resignation was prompted by the police legal charges filed against him.

The former Minister’s  hurried action may have helped to prevent any added fuel to the current political turmoil, with roots in the removal from Cabinet of the former Minister of Agriculture, Laauli Leuatea Schmidt.

His Ministerial portfolio was forced to be removed after serious criminal charges were brought against him by the police that are awaiting court hearing.

Fuimaono is serving his first term as a Member of Parliament from the Aleipata Electorate.
