Urban Apia was flooded again after sporadic rainfall all day yesterday, Tuesday 7 January 202, that continued into the night.
Peak traffic at the end of the day’s work was bumper to bumper in the few detour routes like the Apia through Vaimoso to Sinamoga road, many took to avoid the rising water levels on the regular routes.
Traffic on all the main roads slowed to a crawl from poor visibility with the rain and darkness setting in quickly.
The safety of police officers directing traffic at the busy intersection were seriously at risk by not being seen let alone run over.
Rivers and road drainages overflowed it forced traffic to hunt around for safe routes to take.
It was only two weeks ago when a one day flash flooding forced most of the river system around the township to overflow and disrupt normal daily activities at workplaces and homes.
Health worries are kicking in as well. Many of the heavily populated urban residential areas are at risk. (see other story)
