Women’s U-16  has become the first ever Samoan team to reach a FIFA Soccer World Cup Championship.

Samoa has just beaten New Caledonia 2-0 in Suva to reach the final of the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship, and qualify for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup to be played in Morocco next year.

It is the first time ever that Samoa has qualified for a FIFA showpiece World Cup at any level.

The best Samoan finishes previously in any OFC tournament were at OFC U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifying, 2nd in 2016 and 3rd in 2023.
