A vessel has reportedly ran aground along the seafront at Tafitoala village on the south side of Upolu island. .
Newsline Samoa Online sources who live close to the coastal front location reported the incident only a few minutes ago.
On duty police is, however, unable to confirm the incident when reached on the phone for confirmation by Newsline Samoa Online.
Reports that the Police Patrol boat Nafanua has been called in to the rescue was not verified as well.
Sources close to the scene told Newsline Samoa that the crew have abandoned ship on life rafts for safety .
An official confirmation should be available in the morning.
