Bernadette Patila Amosa and Tina Taitaifono Mareko made history at last Friday’s graduation by being the first graduates of the Master of Science Programme of the National University of Samoa.
Amosa and Mareko were the first students to enrol in the Master of Science Programme after completing their post graduate diploma in science.
Both were full time students and had to complete three courses and a dissertation for their higher degree.
They were awarded Master of Science in Environmental Studies.
The 23 year old Bernadette Amosa graduated with first class honours. She is now employed part time in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
Amosa is the daughter of the late Siu Amosa and Associate Professor Tuifuisa’a Dr Patila Malua Amosa.
The National University of Samoa launched its Master of Science Programme in 2021.
Last Friday was also a joyful event for six students who were awarded Master of Development Studies.
They were Angela Natasha Fatupaito, Aniseko Fruean, Isabell Mema Rasch, Andrew Sam Sheck, Tavila Tavila and Arasi Tiotio. Loimata Tuu’u was the only graduate in the Master of Education Programme.
