FAST Government supporters are let off with a police warning for defacing the national flag during a recent motorcade rally in Savaii.

Police spokesman Auapaau reminded that the desecration of the national flag is a criminal act punishable by a court sentence of up to 6 months a prison.

Auapaau said there were a lot of public complaints to the police against the FAST supporters painting the name of the party on the flags.

In a related investigation police made two arrests from the recent Salelologa roadblock to stop a political motorcade rally on the main road by the opposition Human Rights Protection Party in Savaii.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Auapaau Mr. Logoitino Filipo, confirmed the arrest of two men on charges of threatening to kill, insulting words and disorderly conduct in a public place.

Both are in police custody while investigations into the roadblock continues.

The Deputy Commissioner added that police investigations into a second roadblock in Savaii at Sasina are also continuing but no arrests have been made yet.

Still ongoing also is a police search for the person who fired a gun close to where the Salelologa roadblock was set up.

Back in in Upolu the police are looking into the attack on a family at Faleu, Manono, that maybe related to the April general elections related.

Attempts were reportedly made to burn a family’s home and shop after chiefs and orators decided to banish them from the village.

Deputy Commissioner Auapaau said the village leaders met last Wednesday and directed the young men suspected of the attacks to cease taking anymore actions against the family.

He said the family may have gone against the wish of the village for everyone to vote for one of the candidates in the general elections.

The police relocated the family away from their home for their own safety and protection.

Three salvage experts from Australia arrived in Samoa at end of the week to work on the police patrol boat Nafanua II grounded on the reef at the entry to the Salelologa Harbour.

The boat maybe sent to Australia for repairs to serious damages to the hull.

The Nafanua II was sent to Savaii on a police emergency mission when village roadblocks were set up on sections of the main road.
