Falealupo lady candidate for the general elections in April, Leota Aeau Tima Leavai, was among the visitors caught by Parliament cameras during the week at Mulinu’u.

Leota is a lawyer and runs her own law firm.

As an election candidate she will be able to add politics to her career resume as a politician if she wins the Falealupo electoral constituency.

Politics is already an established domain in the Leavai family that her father and Member of Parliament Aeau Peniamina has long established a distinguished presence.

Aeau is retiring at the end of the current sitting of the XVI Parliament and if his daughter succeeds she will continue a political legacy her father started.

Leota is one of 21 women candidates sprinkled around the constituencies for the 51 seats in Parliament with one more already confirmed.

MP Fiame Naomi Mataafa is already confirmed for the Lotofaga Constituency seat as an unopposed candidate.

Leota makes up just over 10 per cent of the women standing as election candidates with most or 13 running from Savaii constituencies.

Leota is one of three candidates contesting the Falealupo seat all of them male.
