Former Ministry CEOs of Government who ran in the general election last Friday recorded a 50 per cent success rate when the provisional results of the balloting were counted.
Eight ex-CEOs ran in their selected electorates 6 for the HRPP and 2 for FAST.
The successful entries were:
Former MNRE chief executive Fuaava Mr. Suluimalo Amataga who claimed the Aleipata Itupa I Lalo electoral seat for the HRPP.
Former EPC General Manager, Lupematasila Mr. Tologata Tile, who came through from the Falelatai and Samatau seat for the HRPP.
Returning MP for Safata and former boss at the ACC, Nonu Lose Niumata, retained his HRPP seat.
Former Ministry of Works ex-CEO Toelupe Mr. Poumulinuku Onesemo was successful as FAST candidate for the Falealili 1 constituency.
The unsuccessful ex-CEOs were former NUS Vice-Chancellor Fui Leapai, MNRE’s Ulu Bismarck Crawley, FESA’s Taueva Faafouina Mupo and Ministry of Health’s Leota Laki Sio.
Under public service rules all who wants to run in a general elections must resign to do so.
Several other senior public servants and other public sector service staff members took up the challenge on Friday.
