Eveni Carruthers opens an art gallery exhibition at the Flagship store on Beach Road.
“We’re excited to have this art exhibition in-store to help promote and show our support for our local artists on island,” says opening Selina Galuvao, Retail Operations Coordinator.
“We have a range of over 20 different artists including established artists who have showcased their works before like the talented artists of the Manamea Art Studio as well as newcomers who applied with us via Instagram like Moeloto Vitolia Tiatia”.
“Manamea Art Studio has always been committed to promoting local artists, so when Eveni invited us to join, we were happy to support such an innovative idea by a leading retailer in the region. We usually put our work on the walls of an art gallery but our paintings may reach a whole new audience through Eveni”. Nikki Mariner of Manamea Art Studio.
“This exhibition means a lot to me, not only does it promote local art but also how much talent these artists are rich in, not only males but also females, there is so much talent in a female’s hands and as a famous female painter once said; “My mustrious lordship, I’ll show you what a woman can do”. Being a first year student in the Leulumoega Fou School of Fine Arts; I major in my love of Samoan patterns and designs. I’m a strong believer in my culture and the treasures(measina) my ancestors made that are hardly ever seen these days. I want to give my generation a wake up call; by putting life onto a plain canvas showing them what they’re missing out on”, says Moeloto Vitolia Tiatia.
The exhibition is open now at the Eveni Carruthers Flagship Store on Beach Road and will run until the last Saturday of September – 25th September 2021. All pieces are available for purchase. Opening during our regular hours, 8:30am – 5pm on weekdays and 8am – 2pm on Saturday.
“As a company, involved in fashion and the arts. We will always encourage more people to get involved in the arts. We work hard on our own designs and original prints for our designs in Samoa for our major in-house brands.
“We understand the current times and we want to find ways to support others to showcase their work, not only by having it on display instore on Beach Road, but also through our social media reach on Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok followers of over 260,00 in Samoa and around the world”.
“We hope event’s like these will be able to continue in the future with more artists coming through to join. Also important that we continue to support efforts to secure and protect intellectual property rights of artists and designers as we promote their art and design works internationally.” says Lisa Vaai – Eveni Creative Director.
