The Electric Power Corporation has started work on a 1.7km overhead power line in response to the ongoing run of electricity blackouts in recent weeks.

Work started last Friday on the line that will run from Siusega to Fuluasou intended to stabilise the power distribution system.

The overhead line will replace the EPC faulty 2km underground cable responsible for all the power outage woes around the country.

The underground cable is the core transmission line from the EPC’s  main power station at Fiaga to substations for electricity distribution.

The replacement overhead power line will run from a new route near the Faleata Golf course.

“Our technical teams are working around the clock to implement these solutions while monitoring the system closely to prevent further disruptions,” an EPC statement explained.

The electricity power provider in the same statement apologised for the blackouts and the inconvenience caused to the general public.
