The Samoa Fire Emergency Services Authority, SFESA, gave the Apia township a startle with an emergency port drill at the Matautu-tai Wharf on Wednesday morning .

The warning siren washed incessantly across the harbour out  along Beach Road all the way out to the end of the Mulinu’u Peninsula.

Staff workers from Ministries and private operations across the road from the entry into the fenced port lined outside office premises as part of the drill.

Firefighters with their waterholes blasting into the inter island ferry the Lady Samoa IV was seen easily as part of the drill from the main road .

The whole exercise lasted about an hour.

The last major fire emergency inside the port compound was 9 years ago when one of the three oil storage tank caught fire, but was safely contained.
