Service deserving a grateful salute.

Traffic officers directing traffic in the middle of busy intersections is normal.

Since traffic lights came along, they only seem to be seen during peak hours or when the lights are off

There are odd occasions though when they are on duty to free up traffic for special events.

Free movement for visiting dignitaries and their entourage is one example.

Our current run of gusting winds and pouring rain, however, has ushered in a threatening twist.

Dark, heavily overcast skies, gusting winds, sweeping rainfall and poor visibility are what these duty officers are up against.

Watching these officers cope with the elements and the personal risks to their safety, warms the heart.

Gazing out from the dry comforts of behind the windscreen, as wipers dash left-right and the cool air-condition inside closed windows, stirs the emotions.

Thank you for your service. Salute.
