It doesn’t matter who the political party shortlisted as the most winnable of the candidates in the General Elections, the question is can they stop a person from running.
Will it matter if the party does not endorse a candidate?
There are going to be some very funny noses twisted out of joint after being told to pull out of the race so your rival in the same party can win.
Still there is a lot of sense in making sure one of them wins rather than all losing because they split up the voters.
It’s salt on a fresh open wound when a lowly candidate from another party sneaked in while your voters were playing paper, scissors and rock to see who gets to vote where.
Is that enough consolation? Maybe it is but fairy tale magic do happen. Past election results are full of strange endings with unexpected candidates beating the winning odds against them.
