A couple of hungry guys turned up in a popular restaurant for lamb curry.
Orders were placed with the cashier behind the counter before they sat down at a table for the usual wait.
The place looked strangely empty. Chairs and tables were pushed to the side as if it was about to be closed down for the day.
The lunch goers only gave it a passing glance, hungry for the food to arrive.
The serving staff turned up with curries swirling in separate white plastic containers and other food wrapped in foil.
“Excuse me what’s this,” the waiters were asked as they turned and started to walk off.
Both men were lost at what was going on. Why were the food not served in plates as usual with spoons etc.
The cashier who had been watching everything called out loudly from behind the till.
“ Sorry guys no eating allowed in the restaurants except for takeaways, COVID restrictions,” the cashier reminded.
Finally it clicked on the guys who nodded excitedly to each other as if to admit “… hey we never thought of that”.
For a brief moment they forgot they were hungry as they left, laughing and feeling silly at being caught out.
