The bus that splattered all over the road at Malifa a few days ago, killing one with several seriously injured, is not an act of fate anyone would want to wish on any bus owner.
In the end, as owner, he/she is the one left with the full weight of moral and monetary costs incurred.
The final responsibility rests with him/her or as the universal saying goes…’the buck stops with him’.
If the bus is a write-off, loss of revenue and loss of asset are lumped into one insane headache for the reeling owner.
The LTA is claiming the bus failed inspection for renewal of operating licence. If the bus was on the road illegally at the time of the accident, a date with the court looms ominously with serious legal issues pending for the owner.
Then the needs of the injured victims have to be sorted in some form of compensation. So too in some instances the wrath of the families, usually in a conciliatory admission of guilt.
Lump all that into a shoulder bag and the burden for the owner will be a huge one to bear.
He will be lucky to even wobble let alone stand, under the full weight. The bus driver’s negligence is another issue.
If it’s any consolation for all involved, we are all human beings. We are who we are – warts and all.
“…..fate is its own boss whether you tempt it or not, dear.
