But why didn’t the Pacific Games organizers think ahead to the ‘cyclone season’ in the timing of the Solomon Is. Games?
With just under two weeks to go before the start, Vanuatu is sorting over the debris of Cyclone Lola.
Now we’re being told of cyclone winds circling. Wet windy conditions these past few days have been unpredictable.
This close to the Games it is an injustice to all the hard preparations for any athlete to be taken suddenly ill while training in these wet conditions.
So too are possible injuries in these slippery conditions.
Solomon Is. has invested a lot in preparations, how would they feel if those destructive winds sweep across all that hard work?
The worst case scenario is when cyclone winds starts blasting away at the sporting venues while the Games are underway.
Families worry from home at the safety of the athletes and officials.
These same anxious reactions will reverse for the team if battering winds were happening at home while away.
Best hopes now is to pray for the Games to be spared the cyclones .
Blow hard all they want but please let that be after the Games and all are back home safely.
“….. keep the faith, all is possible with prayers, dear.
