The Tautua Samoa political party leader, Afualo Dr. Wood Salele, is anxious for an urgent solution to the political standoff between the HRPP and FAST political parties.

As an economist and former lecturer at the National University of Samoa, his worries are the serious risks to the national economy coming to a standstill.

“This political standoff has to be resolved urgently or our economy is not going to move without a national budget,” Afualo cautioned when asked by Newsline Samoa.

The costly and painful impacts to the people of what is what Afualo want to be the top priority for both parties to consider above their political differences.

He sees no point in continuing the political standoff and who should be in power at the expense of the country sliding into economic hard times.

“The Tautua Party is hopeful like everyone else for the two parties to agree on a solution and if it is a return to general elections then the Tautua Samoa is ready to give it our support.

“We have been in favour of new general elections from the start but with all the court rulings and other activities that have been going on, we sat back and hoped for the two sides to come to agree on a solution.”

Afualo, however, declared if new general elections are called then they are ready and prepared to be involved in it.
