Police Deputy Commissioner. Auapaau Logoitino Filipo has confirmed as civilian carpentry workers, the three people who died in a police Dyna truck at Tiavi this afternoon.
They were traveling the cross-island road out of Apia when the accident occurred at Siumu on the downhill drive.
Auapaau confirmed four people were on the truck at the time of the accident and one is in hospital in critical condition from injuries.
A second person was also injured but was driving in a separate car struck by a flying brick reportedly from the Dyna truck.
“We’re yet to confirm from investigations underway the cause of the accident except that it occurred around 12.00 noon,” Auapaau told Newsline Samoa.
The carpentry workers were support staff members of the Police Assets Division on their way to carry out renovations work at the police rural station at Poutasi, Falealili.
