The State Residence at Vailele was a busy place during the week for the Head of State, His Highness Tuimaleali’ifano Va’aletoa Sualauvi II and Masiofo Fa’amausili.

The swearing of the new President of the Lands and Titles Court started off the series of event presided over by His Highness.

The Member of the Council of Deputies, Le Mamea Ropati, PM Fiame Naomi Mataafa and her Cabinet, Judiciary, families and friends attended.

Official visits by new envoys to Samoa firstly from Egypt and Pakistan winded out the remainder of the week.

H.E. Mrs. Dina Farouk el Sehy presented her credentials as the new Ambassador of Egypt on Wednesday 2 September 2022.

Her Excellency is the first Ambassador to meet the Head of State in person since the COVID-19 pandemic locked down Samoa’s international borders in March 2020. 

Ambassador Farouk el Sehy has 30 years of experience in the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has held various senior positions in the ministry.

She is based in Wellington, New Zealand.

Pakistan High Commissioner to Samoa, His Excellency, Mr. Murad Ashraf Janjua, followed his Egyptian counterpart.

The High Commissioner presented his credentials to His Highness on Thursday 4 November 2022.

Samoa and Pakistan established diplomatic relations on 7 March 1983.

The High Commissioner served in the Pakistan Army for four years and was a Cavalry Captain when he took early retirement.

He too will be working from New Zealand.
