BSP APIA| BSP Financial Group Ltd (BSP), the Pacific’s leading financial institution, is pleased to be the sponsor of the 27th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which will be hosted by Samoa in October 2024.
This will be the first time the meeting will be hosted in the Pacific Islands.
BSP Group CEO, Mark Robinson announced that the Bank will become the anchor partner of CHOGM with a sponsorship of GBP £350,000 (WST$1,250,000) towards the 2024 Commonwealth Business Forum, spearheaded by the Samoa Chamber of Commerce. Additionally BSP will provide banking services and other support totalling WST$1 million, taking the total BSP CHOGM sponsorship package to over WST$ 2 million.
The Commonwealth Business Forum (CBF), is an event organised every two years alongside CHOGM. The event is seen as an integral part of CHOGM and brings together the Commonwealth’s most senior business leaders alongside Heads of Government and Ministers to discuss trade and investment opportunities. Member States and private sector actors will gather under the overarching theme “One Resilient Common Future: Transforming our Common Wealth”.
Group CEO, Mark Robinson commented that “today’s milestone event demonstrates that as the South Pacific’s International Bank, the Bank’s stability and embedded presence in the Pacific will continue to support the creation of opportunity to foster prosperity in the region.
Mr Robinson further thanked the Prime Minister of Samoa and her Government for their collaborative assistance over the last few months which has seen this opportunity confirmed – which will ensure the successful delivery of the CBF. As part of the sponsorship the Bank will play a pivotal role in driving plenary session discussions as well as leading some of the Roundtable discussions.
Prime Minister of Samoa, Afioga Fiamē Naomi Mataʻafa also spoke at the event, acknowledging BSP’s strong record of community engagement and support in Samoa.
