PRESS RELEASE : In support of Samoa Cancer Society Pinktober annual event, Bank South Pacific Samoa incorporated this event with its Staff Health & Safety Program for the month of October focusing on raising awareness on ‘cancer’ and drove alongside its staff activities individual business units fundraising initiatives to collect proceeds for donation to the Samoa Cancer Society awareness programs.
Samoa Cancer Society were invited to run an awareness workshop to all staff on the Friday 21st October 22 morning on crucial early and preventative measures and self-assessments that staff and individuals can do to push out the cancer early detection message. All 101 bank staff joined the Cancer Society awareness team in the morning for a well-orchestrated demonstration and presentation.
Following the awareness, Jennifer Fruean (BSP Country Head Samoa) presented the Cancer Society with a total cash contribution of $4,500.00 which accumulates the bank staff initiatives and the bank’s support to assist the Cancer Society to continue with awareness programs like this. The Retail team including the three main branches raised over $2,000 from sale of seis and cupcakes while Finance and Operations raised $1,000 from sale of pink ribbons with the rest of the team doing cash donations bringing the total of staff fundraising to $3,362.10 of the total $4,500 that was presented to the Samoa Cancer Society.
In Jennifer’s remarks, she says “We hope that our humble sponsorship of $4,500 aids the Samoa Cancer Society with their fundraising efforts to support those in need and especially on driving out more awareness and support programs to our communities. Aligned with our ‘Community’ value, we respect, value and support the communities in which we operate in, we are grateful to our staff and all those whom have supported our fundraising efforts.”
