Her Majesty the late Queen Elizabeth II’s passing was brought to Samoa closer with the Union Jack flag flying half-mast at the British High Commission office at Tamaligi this morning.

Her Majesty was 96 when she passed away yesterday, Thursday, 8 September 2022.

The British Monarch’s death brought back memories to many of her first and only visit to Samoa 45 years ago with Prince Phillip on 1 February 1977.

It was the start of their Silver Jubilee tour of the South Pacific and were in Apia for only a day.

World leaders are expected to attend her funeral service when finalized as the nation goes through a period of mourning over the next 10 days.

Newsline Samoa understands from Government sources that representation for Samoa at the royal funeral services remain to be finalized.
