Samoa have taken out Gold again at the Pacific Games at Solomon Islands winning the Open Mens and Womens Touch Rugby Competition.
The Womens team won the Gold beating defending Champions Papua New Guinea (PNG) 9-8 in a pulsating final that went into overtime with scores locked at 7-7.
The womens team made a remarkable comeback after having lost to Fiji and PNG during pool play. After still managing to make it to the semis the women avenged their earlier losses, beating Fiji 6-2 before their remarkable win against PNG.
In the Open mens competition the Men defeated PNG who were the defending champions 6-5 in a very close final.
The mens remained undefeated during the pool play and held PNG to a 2 all draw. In the semifinals they defeated Fiji 8-5, before overcoming the Defending champions in the final.
Tomorrow Team Samoa will look to compete in the mixed Touch rugby Competition.
