Organisers of the All Saints Anglican Church bazaar at the weekend sported thankful smiles when they counted $60 thousand tala collected at the end of the one day event.
“Our take is around $30-40 thousand tala in past bazaars, but we did well this year,” one of the grateful organisers told Newsline Samoa.
Sales and donations were the main source of revenue at the one day annual fundraising for the church last Saturday.
The funds will go to the maintenance of the Leifiifi church and the vicar’s residence inside the compound.
“The bazaar is our only fundraising for the year, and I guess people were generous with their donations this year and our sales were better as well,” the organizer continued.
Cooked food, farm produce, clothes, books, pot plants, raffles, games and childrens’ playground activities kept the organizers and the browsing crowd occupied.
Foodwise the Anglican bazaar is not complete without the roast beef on the spit attraction that has become an established tradition for the church fundraising.
Some make a beeline for hot plates of tasty, roast beef in tomato sauce others leave it last after they have done with their browsing of the activities before, they go home for a heavy late Saturday morning breakfast.
One of the lighthearted talking points also of the event this year are the prize winners of the main bazaar raffle.
His Excellency the British High Commissioner was the winner of a real live cow. The Director of the regional environment organization, SPREP, became the proud owner of an oinking pig.
